Monday’s Show

July 23rd, 2012

The NCAA dropped a nuclear bomb on the Penn State program on Monday morning.  While not giving he death penalty, it did render the program forever irrelevant.

NCAA President Mark Emmert announced this morning that the Nittany Lion program will serve five years probation.  That probation will include a four year postseason ban, scholarship reductions that could equal 80 over a four year period and a 60 million dollar fine.  The program will also be stripped of 112 wins over a 13 year period.

Coming up on tonight’s show, we will discuss the impact of this decision and how could change the college athletic landscape.  In addition, we will discuss the stunning collapse of a coach, Joe Paterno, and program that was once thought of as the bastion of honesty and integrity.

The Lexington Herald Leader’s John Clay will join us tonight to give us his reaction to the penalties and what they mean, if anything, for the rest of the NCAA.   Jeff Drummond will also be here to give us his take and any new rumblings on the recruiting circuit.

The show starts at 6pm with your calls and comments tonight on 590, WVLK in Lexington; 1450 The Sports Buzz in Louisville and Nation of Blue Radio.
