Tuesday’s Show

June 5th, 2012

Kent Spencer

Coming up on Tuesday night’s show, WHAS’s Kent Spencer will join us to discuss the UK baseball team’s terrific season.  UK baseball coach Gary Henderson contract situation is among the topics that we’ll chat about.

Was the Bat Cats’ performance good enough to justify a big raise and a contract extension for a coach that was on the hot seat just a year ago?

Just last month Mitch Barnhart made Matthew Mitchell the highest paid women’s basketball coach in the SEC after the Lady Cats advanced to their second elite 8 appearance under Mitchell.  The women’s head coach will make just under a million dollars heading up a program that generates little revenue.

Does Henderson deserve a big raise too even though the baseball program doesn’t generate much revenue either?

TJ McCollum

Also, the Cats Pause’ Jeff Drummond returns with a football recruiting update in hour two of tonight’s show.  JDrum will highlight Joker’s recruitment of Safety TJ McCollum from Pinson, Alabama and Offensive Lineman prospect Ramsey Meyers who hails from Orange Park, Florida.

We’ll also hit all of the top news stories of the day on the Tuesday night edition of Larry Glover Live.

Hour 1 (Kent Spencer)
Hour 2 (Jeff Drummond)

Update:

UK football gets a commit. Alvonte Bell, a defensive end from Hollywood, Florida announced that he is a Cat.  The verbal seems pretty strong saying the decision wasn’t tough.

Should Charlie Strong use UK’s logo in the U of L football urinal?  At the very least it wasn’t especially classy but is it worth getting worked up about?  we’ll discuss tonight.

Tuesday’s Links:

Michael Porter’s case is headed to the Grand Jury.  The former UK guard is facing sex abuse and sodomy charges.

It was a pretty bad day for the Louisville Courier Journal.  They lost not one but two sports columnists yesterday.  Rick Bozich and Eric Crawford both are headed to WDRB.

ESPN recognizes what we already know, John Calipari likes to tweet.  The World Wide Leader in Sports lists the top coaches on twitter and ranks Cal at the top, naturally.

Former UK star and current Boston Celtic Rajon Rondo called out the Miami Heat at halftime of the Celtics overtime win.  Heat coach Eric Spoelstra say’s he doesn’t care.
